Sarabande

Sarabande collects my most important compositions for solo guitar, pieces written over at least twenty years of my career, and therefore written only out of an emotional, inspired impulse.
These compositions contain my whole philosophy of music and of the guitar: there is always a recognisable melodic line, supported by refined harmony that tries not to be obvious, yet lets the phrasing flow so the piece is easy to listen to.
The decision to record Sarabande came after a fairly fruitful concert season, which gave me the chance to mature these performances in front of very varied audiences.
When I knew I was ready I went into the studio and recorded everything in six hours, two three-hour sessions separated by lunch. So it is an album with a unique sound, captured with the studio's natural reverb, which gives the recording a live feel.
Three years after the recording I am convinced I could not have done better on these pieces… it was the right day, my hands answered precisely to the impulses of my brain.
