On the Road

On the Road and Sarabande are the two pieces that best represent my approach to the guitar: early music reread in a modern way on one side, open tunings and contemporary fingerstyle on the other.

On the Road comes from four years of research on prepared tunings, away from the academic world, and it is my first composition in an open tuning. The structure is simple but effective, and live I always open it with an improvised introduction.

Performers

The piece is dedicated to Christian Saggese and has been performed by Gabriele Curciotti, Antonio de Innocentis, Luigi Picardi and Giovanni Pelosi. I also wrote a version for two guitars, played with Angela Lancieri at the Ferentino Acustica Festival.
